Jonn Young Leaves the Football Team

Published

Redshirt sophomore and punter Jonn Young has decided to move on from West Virginia University’s football program.  Coming out of Davie High School in Advance, North Carolina, Young was rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports and a two-star player by Rivals. Coming into the program in 2016, Young was thought by many to replace Lou Groza nominee Josh Lambert; however, this did not happen as Young could not break through the other special-teams players on the roster.

Now that Young has decided to leave the program, look for Western Kentucky transfer Skyler Simcox to vie for a presence as the Mountaineers lead place kicker.

Young was joined by Jalen Harvey, Ray Raulerson, Alec Shriner, and Ricky Rodgers as players who will not be returning to Morgantown.
