Kendall to enroll as early as Thursday

It appears that Neal Brown has found his starting quarterback for the next two years. As first reported by Allan Taylor of the Dominion Post, Austin Kendall, the grad transfer QB from Oklahoma, is expected to begin his career in Morgantown this Thursday.

The four star quarterback from North Carolina will be the next transfer at that position to take the reigns at West Virginia. Only this time it will be under a new system.

Kendall is a pocket passer that is accurate and powerful. He has the ability to put the ball in tight windows just as easily as he can drop a dime forty yards downfield. At 6’2” he stands high in the pocket and puts the ball where he wants it.

Neal Brown’s system has the impressive ability to air it out as well as get the ground game heavily involved. Brown showed interest in Kendall when he was in high school and now he is going to come to Morgantown to be the starter for him at a power-5 school.

In his senior year of High School he averaged 219 yards a game while throwing 23 passing touchdowns. His talent is definitely there. He was a four star recruit out of high school and was recruited by Tennessee and Kentucky before signing with OU.

Kendall has had time in the conference and knows how it works. He is already very familiar with the majority of the Mountaineers opponents that he will face over the next two seasons.

Kendall was the backup to two Heisman winners in Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray so he has devolped and learned from his time under them. Brown has two seasons to groom the quarterback he eyed earlier in his career into a star that he can believe in to run his fast offfense.

For the third season in a row, a transfer quarterback will be the starter in Morgantown and the future of Mountaineer football is in good hands.
