Long, versatile guard sees West Virginia as a top program in the country

With the books closed on the 2018 recruiting class, Bob Huggins and his staff turn their attention to the 2019 class and they already have a jump start with guard commit, Miles McBride.

Late last week, Huggins sent out an offer to 2019 guard Dontaie Allen of Pendleton Co High School in Kentucky. Allen brings tremendous length and size to the guard position, which seems to be something Bob Huggins is starting to transition to.

“WVU has great tradition and a great program. The press can be tough for some, but if you truly want to go to the next level then you’re going to have to increase your effort defensively and become more efficient. So to me, it would be a good challenge to help me grow as a player.” Allen said of WVU.

He continued, “I have good vibes with the coaches. We talk about how I could possibly contribute to the program by being tall and long guard at 6’7″. The next step is just to visit campus and see how that goes. We are trying to get a visit set up once Coach Huggins gets back in town.”

What caught my attention is how Allen viewed the program as a whole when you compare against some of the elites, “They’re among the top programs in the country in my opinion, the success is there,” he said.

Allen also holds offers from Dayton, Xavier, Nevada, Purdue and Virginia Tech among many other mid-majors.
