The former Mountaineer’s 14:58 time played marks the second most minutes he’s received in a game this season, only behind 17 minutes on Dec. 5. Just like when he was in college at West Virginia, “Deuce” McBride’s hustle has also made him a fan favorite for Knicks’ fans.
The Knicks traded away guards RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to the Raptors, opening up an opportunity for McBride to receive more playing time. McBride played a season-high 18 minutes on Saturday vs. Indiana, scoring five points.
McBride was averaging 2.1 points through 19 games and averaging 5.3 minutes per contest prior to the trade.
McBride saw more opportunities during his second year in the NBA with the Knicks. McBride appeared in 64 games during the 2022-23 season. McBride averaged 3.5 points and 1.1 assists last season. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native shot 36 percent from the field. The Knicks picked up McBride’s team option before NBA free agency began this past offseason.
Miles McBride played two seasons at West Virginia from 2019-21, leading the Mountaineers to an NCAA Tournament appearance during his sophomore year. McBride averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
