Mountaineers the Latest Stop for Keenan Eck | WVU Football All 105
All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU Football Roster.
Keenan Eck put together an All-Conference season at California’s Citrus College (JUCO) in 2024, earning him a shot with WVU Football as a weakside linebacker (referred to as a bandit on the team roster).
Head coach Rich Rodriguez attacked lower levels of the sport like JUCO and Division II as he looked to fill out the Mountaineers’ roster this season. While that could provide a difficult learning curve for some players, Rodriguez could also unearth diamonds in the rough.
Eck has shown a knack for rushing the passer, picking up 14.5 sacks across two college seasons. However, weakside linebackers typically play more of a role in pass coverage… which might suit the 6-foot-4, 205 pound Eck better. Either way, summer training camp will give a better example of how the Mountaineers’ coaching staff plans to use Eck once he gets on the field.

Last year: Eck earned All-Conference honors at the JUCO level after racking up six sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss.
Stats: Between one season apiece at D-II South Hills State and Citrus College (JUCO), Eck has 14.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss, 39 tackles and five forced fumbles.
Camp outlook: Jumping from JUCO to Division I will provide a challenge for Eck. If he can’t settle in as a pass rusher like he did at Citrus College, he could slot in on special teams or at another spot on the defense.
Projected role: Depending on the defensive formation (3-3-5, 4-3, etc.) coaches can deploy weakside linebackers as anything from a defensive end to a strong safety.
Accolades, highlights: Eck earned a first-team all-conference selection at Citrus College last season.
