The NCAA announced that the transfer portal windows will change once more as a council meeting concludes on Wednesday. This affects football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.

The basketball transfer portal window will open following the second round of the NCAA Tournament for 30 days while football receives two separate periods which equal to 30 days to enter as well.

“DI Council approves changes to notification of transfer windows in MBB, WBB and football. Council decisions are not final until meeting concludes on Wed.

“Effective immediately, MBB & WBB notification of transfer windows will open the day after the end of the second round of the NCAA tournaments for 30 days.

“Effective immediately, football notification of transfer windows will open for 30 total days, including 20 days after FBS conference championship weekend and 10 days in the spring. For the current year, those dates will be Dec. 9-28 and April 16-25.

“In all sports, an additional 30-day notification of transfer window will continue to open for student-athletes the day after the departure of their head coach is announced.”

This marks the third-straight athletic year where the NCAA has a different timeline for the transfer portal. The entry window started at 60 days to which ended up at 45 this past offseason. As usual, student-athletes may take as much time as they want to handle their recruitment. The windows are just for entering the transfer portal.
