To complete a month-long roller coaster of emotions, Noel Devine shares his thoughts on his son Andre signing to play for Rich Rodriguez.

When WVU failed to sign Andre on National Signing Day in December, the WVU Sports Hall of Famer unleashed on the current staff. But now that Andre is connecting with his father’s former West Virginia head coach at Jacksonville State, Noel sounds satisfied with how everything turned out.

“Proud moment yesterday seeing my son Andre sign to JSU! Thank you Coach Rod and your coaching staff for welcoming my son with open arms. This means a lot to me and my family my son found a home. The Devine legacy continues with the same culture and traditions Rich Rod taught me,” Noel Devine said on X (Twitter) Thursday night after Andre signed with Jacksonville State earlier that morning.

Andre is now locked into joining Rich Rodriguez and the Gamecocks days after completing a visit and hearing all about what Rodriguez can do for him. Andre signed during a ceremony at North Fort Myers High School, an alma mater he will share with his dad.

The recent trip to Jacksonville State was also a reunion for Andre’s famous father Noel Devine. It marked the first time Noel spent time with Rodriguez in well over a decade

This encounter between Devine and Rodriguez comes less than two months after the WVU Sports Hall of Famer unloaded on the present day West Virginia coaching staff. Devine did not hold back when the Mountaineers failed to sign his son Andre as part of their 2024 class on National Signing Day.

Andre held offers from FAU, USF and even another West Virginia based school in Marshall.
