It’s not really possible to properly evaluate a team’s schedule until games start being played, granted that never stops college football fans from arguing strength of schedule months in advance. But since the full WVU football 2025 schedule has been out for a while, what are your way-too-early thoughts in terms of level of difficulty?

Unlike in recent seasons, West Virginia will only face 10 fellow Power Four opponents – they played 11 in recent seasons under Neal Brown. WVU will also host the Backyard Brawl.

However, WVU will travel to a Group of 5 program when they meet Ohio in Athens in Week 2. Rich Rodriguez will also have to take his team across the country twice, a trip to BYU and a trip to Arizona State.

The second trip forces a late second bye week that comes right before the regular season finale, although it’s at home this year.

West Virginia will open Big 12 play on the road against Kansas and also welcome Utah to Morgantown the following week. Another game to circle on the colander is when Deion Sanders brings Colorado to town in early November.
