Report: Blaine Stewart to Leave Steelers to Join WVU Staff

West Virginia could be adding a new coach with a very familiar last name.

Within another report, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac says sources have told him that Steelers assistant wide receivers coach Blaine Stewart is leaving the franchise for a position on the WVU coaching staff. It’s not clear what his title will be exactly.

Stewart, the son of the late former WVU head coach, is in his second season in his current role with the Steelers after spending the prior two seasons as a coaching assistant. He would be coming to the Mountaineers after a recent change in the wide receiver coach position with the hiring of Bilal Marshall.

Prior to embarking on a career in coaching, the Morgantown, West Virginia native played wide receiver at the University of Charleston (W. Va.) in 2016 and 2017, after beginning his collegiate career at James Madison University (2013-15).
