With three scholarship spots remaining for WVU Basketball, the program received a commitment from Detroit Mercy transfer guard Jayden Stone. Stone, 6-foot-4, is an incoming fifth-year senior.

Stone announced the commitment through Hoop Scoop Media on Tuesday night.

Stone averaged 20.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists for a Titans squad that went 1-31 on the season. The Australian native recorded three games over 30 points and scored 25 points against Big 12 foe Cincinnati this past year. Stone shot 42% from the field and 32% from three.

Stone, who began his career at Grand Canyon, has one year of eligibility remaining.

With Stone, WVU has picked up eight transfers this offseason: Tucker DeVries (G – Drake), Sencire Harris (G – Illinois), Amani Hansberry (F – Illinois), Toby Okani (F – UIC), Eduardo Andre (C – Fresno State), Javon Small (G – Oklahoma State) and Joseph Yesufu (G – Washington State).

West Virginia lost Josiah Harris (F), Seth Wilson (G), Patrick Suemnick (F), Kerr Kriisa (G), Jeremiah Bembry (G), Kobe Johnson (G), Ali Ragab (C) and Noah Farrakhan (G) to the transfer portal.

The transfer portal entry window closed on Wednesday, May 1, but players just need to be entered by then to extend their recruitment as long as they want throughout the rest of the offseason.
