Son of WVU Legend to Play College Basketball in West Virginia
A Pittsnoggle will be playing college basketball in West Virginia once again. Kwynsie Pittsnogle, the son of WVU basketball legend Kevin Pittsnogle, has found a new college program, committing to return to West Virginia to play for Wheeling University.
“Blessed to announce my commitment to Wheeling University! I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and want to thank my family, coaches, and everyone who has supported me along the way. This is just the beginning ready to get to work and compete!,” announced Kwynsie Pittsnogle on Friday night. Kwynsie Pittsnogle entered the transfer portal in early May.
And of course, Kevin Pittsnogle, in the role of proud dad, shared a few words on social media after his son’s announcement.
“Congrats to my son on his commitment and all the support. I look forward to watching him grow at wheeling into the player we know he can become.”
Kwynsie Pittsnogle appeared in just one game during the 2025-26 season with Division II Lees McRae College on Nov. 18 against Greensboro. He tallied just two minutes with two points.
Kevin Pittsnogle came to WVU from his hometown Martinsburg and made an immediate impact with the Mountaineers. The 6-foot-11 center averaged double-digit points for his entire four-year career, topping out with 19.3 points per game while earning first-team All-Big East honors as a senior in 2006 and highlighted team wise by leading WVU to the Elite Eight in 2005.
He was ahead of his time as a stretch forward, shooting 41.1% from three for his career with 253 made three-pointers. He still ranks ninth all-time in career scoring (1,708 points) and second in three-pointers (253) in WVU history.
