West Virginia has contacted Kansas State transfer forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin, a source tells WV Sports Now. Tomlin entered the transfer portal on Friday after a dismissal from the KSU basketball program.

Tomlin played at K-State last season as a starter for head coach Jerome Tang. Tomlin helped lead the Wildcats to an Elite-8 appearance. The Harlem, NY. native averaged 10.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks through 36 games. Tomlin would be immediately eligible for the spring semester as he graduates from Kansas State this month. Tomlin’s departure from KSU wasn’t pretty after a disorderly conduct arrest in October, which led to his indefinite suspension and eventual dismissal from the team. The team, as well as the fans, wanted Tomlin back with the team but the administration couldn’t clear him.

West Virginia is currently 3-5 following back-to-back home losses to St. John’s and Pitt. The Mountaineers have been short-handed throughout the season after Jose Perez was dismissed from the team in late September. WVU also had issues with Kerr Kriisa (suspension), RaeQuan Battle (waiver) and Akok Akok (health) but has returned Akok to the court.

WVU interim HC Josh Eilert has discussed adding a piece after the fall semester is completed. Eilert also doesn’t want to add a player just to add a player and will make sure it is worth it in the short term and long term.
