Austin Brinkman now has a path to join former Mountaineer Rex Sunahara in the NFL. The Houston Texans have awarded Brinkman an opportunity following the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft.

A Patrick Mannelly Award Semifinalist and third-team All-American, Brinkman was one of the best specialists in the country during his time at WVU.

He played in all 50 games during his four-year career as the Mountaineers’ long snapper.

Brinkman, a Maryland native, was invited to the Reeses Senior Bowl and the NFL Scouting Combine specialist showcase. He also won the 2024 Iron Mountaineer award.

WV Sports Now caught up with Brinkman at the Senior Bowl in February.
