Tobi Haastrup’s Exponential Growth | WVU Football All 105
All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.
Redshirt freshman edge rusher Tobi Haastrup is only entering his third season of football. Haastrup didn’t set foot on the gridiron until his senior year of high school, but that didn’t stop the 6-foot-3, 255 pound London, England native from earning a four-star rating and a spot in the ESPN Top 300 as a recruit.
Haastrup accumulated 48 tackles as a senior, getting into the backfield as often as not with 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks and 23 hurries during his first taste of football. He also competed in track and field, running the 100-meter dash in 10.93 seconds and the 200-meter in 21.89 seconds. While neither of those times is close to state championship level, it’s a testament to his combination of speed and power.
Haastrup committed to Oregon and appeared in three games with the Ducks during his freshman season, then transferred to West Virginia. Given the exponential track of his career so far, from novice to four-star in the space of one season, expect Haastrup to make an impact on the field in 2026.
95 • Tobi Haastrup, redshirt freshman EDGE
Last Year: Haastrup played three games at Oregon in a redshirt year.
Stats: One tackle
Post-Camp Outlook: Haastrup is one of just four players listed at EDGE on the Mountaineers’ roster. Specialized roles suggest an inside track to playing time and, although he’ll have to compete with junior transfers David Afogho and Harper Holloman — both Group of 5 starters last season — his taste of Power Four action with Oregon could give him a leg up.
Projected Role: If Haastrup can’t win a starting spot this season, expect him to get on the field plenty in a reserve or rotational role.
Accolades, Highlights: A four-star recruit after just one high school season, Haastrup made the ESPN Top 300 as a senior.
