Tucker DeVries is unsurprisingly expected to follow his father, Darian DeVries, and transfer to Indiana for his final season of college basketball.

Darian DeVries, 49, was officially hired away by Indiana Tuesday evening. He leaves after just one season in Morgantown, leading the Mountaineers to a 19-13 (10-10 Big 12) record this season, just missing out on a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Under DeVries, West Virginia pulled off marquee upset wins over Gonzaga, Kansas and Iowa State, who were all ranked in the top 10. WVUโ€™s win at Kansas this season was the programโ€™sย first-ever victory in Allen Fieldhouse.

Tucker DeVries followed his father to WVU from Drake in the offseason but only appeared in eight games for the Mountaineers before suffering a season-ending injury. He averaged 14.9 points per game with WVU with 4.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks. West Virginia was 6-2 with DeVries, notching ranked wins over Gonzaga and Arizona.

Of the players that could potentially return to WVU, freshman standout Jonathan Powell already intends to enter the transfer portalย even prior to this news. Major rotation pieces Amani Hansberry, Sencire Harris and KJ Tenner as well as redshirting underclassmen Dylan Jay, Ofri Naveh and Abraham Oyeadier could all also be on the move.

WVUโ€™s strong recruiting class is also put into jeopardy. DeVries had signed four-star prospects Braydon Hawthorne, Kelvin Odih and Trent MacLean in the 2025 class.
