WVU Football LB Reid Carrico versus Iowa State

West Virginia’s game this week represents more than just trying to repair a season, it’s also the annual “Coal Rush” game.

And even though WVU fans have already been aware of the uniform combination for weeks, the program still shared a video to promote the alternate look ahead of the game.

Both DraftKings and FanDuel are predicting the Horned Frogs to dominate the Mountaineers. And if WVU doesn’t find some way to show signs of life, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

At 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the Big 12, there’s not much for even the most optimistic WVU fan to point to as a sign of better days to come. The hope has to be in Rodriguez and the belief he will fulfill his promise to make West Virginia great again, granted that may take more time than initially advertised.

Conversely, TCU still has plenty left to play for. The Horned Frogs enter Week 9 at 5-2, granted they’re only 2-2 within the Big 12. TCU is looking to build a win steak after pulling out a win in a shootout against Baylor.

The Mountaineers debuted their “Coal Rush” uniform last season against Iowa State.
