Wes Miller, Not WVU’s Erik Martin, Named Cincinnati Basketball Coach
Longtime assistant coach Erik Martin is still in Morgantown, for now.
After reports that Martin was on the shortlist to be hired as the head coach at the University of Cincinnati, the 15-year Bob Huggins assistant was passed over in favor of former UNC Greensboro coach Wes Miller, the University announced yesterday.
It's a new day in Cincinnati.
Welcome to the #Bearcats, @CoachWesMiller!

Martin, a Cincinnati graduate, reportedly interviewed for the UC job over the weekend and was called a favorite for the position by former players and coaches. Athletic director John Cunningham instead opted for Miller, who spent the last decade coaching at UNC Greensboro.
Martin has been an assistant coach for Huggins since before the later came to WVU in 2007. His name has been floated as a candidate for a number of coaching positions over the last few years but he is still searching for his first head coaching job.
