West Virginia University running back Leddie Brown had a breakout season in 2020, rushing for 1,010 yards and nine touchdowns with 202 receiving yards and two more scores.

With the NFL a definite possibility for the Philadelphia native, Brown, a junior for the Mountaineers, announced Wednesday afternoon on Twitter that he will be returning to WVU for the 2021 season.

The second-leading rushing in the Big 12, Brown was named to the All-Big 12 First Team following the season. He ran for more than 100 yards in five of WVU’s 10 games this season. Entering 2020, Brown had rushed for 813 yards in his first two seasons with the Mountaineers with a 4.1 yards per carry average and five touchdowns.

Brown will return to a WVU backfield with redshirt-junior Alec Sinkfield and redshirt-freshman Tony Mathis. They will also be joined by 2021 four-star recruits Justin Johnson and Jaylen Anderson.
