West Virginia defensive end Bryce Brand has entered his name into the transfer portal, according to rivals.com.

Brand transferred to WVU from Maryland ahead of the 2020 season. Brand was ineligible for the first half of the 2020 season, according to WVU coach Neal Brown. He saw time in just two games, recording two total tackles.

Brand played in 26 career games at Maryland. As a true freshman, he recorded 13 tackles, one sack, in limited action. He redshirted in 2018, but still played in four games and had three tackles, two for loss. He played 12 games in 2019, with 12 tackles, four for loss and one sack.

The news of Brand entering his name into the portal comes just one day after senior defensive end Jeffery Pooler Jr. announced that he will return to WVU for the 2021 season. Pooler, Dante Stills and Akheem Mesidor will be contributing returners along WVU’s defensive line next season while Brand and Quay Mays will transfer away.
