Matchups have been announced for the 2020 SEC/Big 12 Challenge and West Virginia will play the Florida Gators.

Florida will make its first-ever trip to Morgantown for the challenge on Jan. 30.

The Gators finished the 2019-20 season with a 19-12 record, 11-7 in the SEC. UF lost three of its final five games and would have played Georgia in the first round of the SEC Tournament.

Florida’s top returner is junior forward Keyontae Johnson. Johnson averaged 14 points and 7.1 rebounds per game last season while shooting 54.4% from the floor. He also shot 38% from three-point range and lead the team with 38 steals.

The Gators will also return guards Scottie Lewis and Noah Locke. Lewis, a sophomore, started 22 games, averaging 8.5 points and Locke, a junior, started 29 games, averaging 10.6 points.

West Virginia is 3-6 all-time against Florida. The Gators have won the three most-recent meetings in 2003, 2016 and 2018. WVU last win came in 2002.

WVU defeated Missouri 74-51 at home in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge last season.
