Where does Joe Lunardi project West Virginia in NCCA Tournament?

The season for the West Virginia Mens Basketball Team has seen the Mountaineers climb to as high as number two in the country and fall to it’s current ranking of #21. WVU has went 6-7 over it’s last 13 games.  In all those loses the Mountaineers saw a second half lead evaporate.    With three games remaining on the regular season docket, one home and one away,  and the Big XII Tournament, WVU has a chance to improve it’s current NCAA Tournament resume.

Joe Lunardi currently has the Mountaineers as the number four seed in the South Regional.  The projected first round matchup would take place in Boise against Vermont. The Vermont Catamounts have a record of 24-6 with their only RPI top 100 win coming against Bradley. With a victory in the first round a likely matchup against Ohio State would await. Virginia is Joey Brackets number one seed in the South with Auburn being the number two.

WVU is still listed by many experts as a team that has a chance to cut down the nets at the end of the season.  If Press Virginia can speed teams up and cause turnovers they present a tough matchup for the field. The offense woes that have plagued the team of late have to be corrected as well or the tournament run will be a short one.
