WR DJ Epps’ Athleticism Should Lead to Making Big Impact | WVU Football All 105
All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.
Listed at 5-foot-11 and 186 pounds, wide receiver DJ Epps, who comes to West Virginia from Troy, committed to WVU on Jan. 6 on the heels of an official visit.
The Alabama native caught 47 passes for 512 yards and scored five touchdowns in 2025. He also served as Troyโs kick returner at times, totaling 554 yards off 23 returns and a log that went for 79 yards.
Epps was a redshirt in 2022, only took six snaps in 2023 and then appeared in six games as a sophomore in 2024.
In addition to WVU, Epps also spoke with Cincinnati, Kansas and Iowa State after the transfer portal opened on Jan. 2. He was set to visit Cincinnati on Jan. 9 before deciding to lock in with West Virginia.

Last Year: Epps saw action in 14 games and made 10 starts for the Trojans in 2025.
Stats: Epps finished with a team-high 47 catches, second with 512 yards, had a team-tying five touchdowns with a long of 48. He caught passes on 66.2% of his targets and had six games with four or more receptions.
Post-Camp Outlook: In addition to his work as a receiver, Epps was involved in the competition to be the main kickoff and/or punt returner.
Projected Role: In search of depth and playmakers, Epps experience and overall athleticism will surely provide him an advantage in finding ways to make an impact. Epps has a strong case to be WVU’s top kickoff and/or punt returner.
Accolades, Highlights: Epps was ranked No. 2 in the Sun Belt with 554 return yards on 23 kickoffs with a long of 79 in 2025. He was also an All-Area first team quarterback in high school.
