UPDATE – 5:08 p.m.
Bad news for Capital High football — Rick Ryan, a veteran high school sports reporter from the Charleston Gazette-Mail, is reporting that the Cougars are shutting down football for two weeks.
The Gazette-Mail has learned that a positive case has shut down the Capital football program until Nov. 4. The high school is also closed and on remote learning until that day. Story upcoming.

UPDATE – 1:05 p.m.
WVU has offered 2022 guard Evan Mahaffey from Cincinnati, Ohio. Mahaffey (6-foot-5, 175 pounds) is rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports. He plays at Archbishop Moeller, the same high school as current Mountaineer Miles McBride.
He also has offers from Cincinnati, Xavier and Western Carolina.

WVU is making a run at Rutgers commit Shaquan Loyal — a three-star Class of 2021 defensive back from Newark, N.J. Loyal announced a scholarship offer from the Mountaineers late Tuesday evening on Twitter:
