Neal Brown has made his feelings about being picked to finish last in the Big 12 loud and clear, but what does WVU director of athletics Wren Baker think of everyone doubting Mountaineers?

“I’ll tell you for me, I always like to feel slighted. I think that’s great. It gives you a little extra juice,” Baker told to Tony Caridi on the field at Big 12 Media Days at AT&T Stadium.

He then elaborated on why he’s confident in this West Virginia team and offered a battlecry out to all of Mountaineer Nation.

“I can tell you our kids are not happy about it. We don’t think that’s where we are from a talent perspective or from an experience perspective. We’re not going to finish last. And there’s a resolve in our program and around it, and I hope across the state,” said Baker.

I hope people are intending to show up, fight with us, fight for us and let’s prove everybody wrong together. There are lots of people who like to question West Virginia and WVU and let’s show our resolve and prove ourselves.”

These comments by Baker come less than a week after he detailed the positive vibe he’s been seeing around the players and why he believes that will follow them to the field in the fall.
