WVU Basketball Down in KenPom Rankings Ahead of Big 12-Big East Battle
A week of inactivity has sent WVU basketball down the KenPom rankings a bit as the Mountaineers clock in at No. 59 ahead of their game against Georgetown on Friday.
West Virginia was ranked No. 51 following its showing at the Battle 4 Atlantis, but things have changed as the Mountaineers haven’t played a game since returning from the Bahamas.
Part of the Big 12-Big East Battle, WVU and Georgetown tip-off from inside the WVU Coliseum at 7 p.m. tomorrow. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
Georgetown is the second-lowest-ranked team in the Big East at No. 85. West Virginia is 11 out of 16 Big 12 teams.
Georgetown is 7-1 with its only loss coming at the hands of Notre Dame. After that setback, the Hoyas have won five in a row heading into Friday’s matchup with WVU.
As a conference, the Big 12 has dipped in the KenPom rankings. Houston (No. 5), Iowa State (No. 6) and Kansas (No. 9) remain in the top 10, but Cincinnati (No. 15) has fallen out.
