WVU F Jamel King to ‘Probably’ Redshirt his Freshman Year

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – During WVU men’s basketball head coach Bob Huggins’ press conference, on Friday, it was announced that freshman Jamel King will “probably” redshirt this season.

Huggins was asked if he was leaning towards redshirting the forward.

“Probably, so,” Huggins said. “I don’t think there’s any absolutes if we think that he’s a guy that can come in and help us, then we are going to play him.”

King committed to West Virginia back in June, after de-committing from New Mexico State. King has appeared in one game this season, against Elon, on Nov. 18. The Alabama native played in one minute of that game.

Huggins has said all season that having 15 guys on scholarship would be difficult to make everyone happy, and he knows everyone wants to play.

“All of those freshman want to play, no one wants to redshirt,” Huggins said.
