West Virginia forward Tre Mitchell will face Texas on Saturday for the first time since transferring last spring. Mitchell spent one season at Texas before entering the transfer portal. Mitchell ended up at WVU in May.

WVU head coach Bob Huggins doesn’t think Mitchell will need any advice heading into the game.

“[Tre] wasn’t there for very long. He played against us for one game,” Huggins said on Friday. “I think Tre said it best. He said he’s never been more comfortable. If he had known that West Virginia was as good of a place that it is and people were as nice and kind as what people are here, he would’ve been here from the beginning.”

Mitchell’s only game against West Virginia in Jan. 2022 included six points and three rebounds in a 74-59 win for the Longhorns.

Mitchell, a senior from Pittsburgh, is averaging 13.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists through 18 games for West Virginia. The 6-foot-9 forward is shooting 51 percent from the field and 40 percent from three.

West Virginia and No. 7 Texas will tipoff on Saturday at 6 p.m. on ESPN at the WVU Coliseum.
