Yesterday, class of 2020 defensive back Shelton Quarles Jr. (Tampa, FL) informed WVSportsNow.com that West Virginia is his current leader.

“WVU is for sure in the mix and after conversations with my family, they are number one right now,” Quarles stated. “The organization as a whole and the atmosphere captures my attention,” he added.

The lead recruiter for Quarles is corners coach Jahmile Addae who has spoken to Quarles on several occasions. “He’s a really cool dude. I know he’s a busy coach worrying about the season, but we talk whenever possible,” Quarles said.

Quarles also informed WVSportsNow that he does intend on making it back to West Virginia for a second visit, “My parents and I have been trying our best for me to get up there and watch a game! It seems like a great atmosphere, but sadly I haven’t been able to make the trip. After my high school season I will try to make it up for a game,” he said.

At the moment, there is no timeline for a decision, but West Virginia is currently out in front. He also holds offers from Oregon, South Florida, Southern Miss and Toledo.
