WVU Football Beats Out Regional Rivals for 2027 4-Star CB Carter Bonner
For another recruiting win for the WVU football staff, a 2027 four-star cornerback picked West Virginia over a couple regional rivals.
Carter Bonner, listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, announced his commitment to the Mountaineers on Monday afternoon. WVU beat out a final group of Maryland, Tennessee, Oregon State and Virginia Tech.
Bonner started his high school career at Penn Hills High School within Western Pennsylvania’s WPIAL.
Bonner’s addition to WVU’s 2027 class is a notable due to his standing as one of the top 10 prospects in Maryland. A product of Saint Francis Academy, Bonner is ranked as the No. 9 player in Maryland and No. 27 at his position nationally.
Bonner also commits ahead of his upcoming official visit at the end of May.
While viewed as simply an athlete by some recruiting services, West Virginia recruited Bonner as a cornerback. He also had offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Michigan State, Northwestern, Pitt, Purdue, Rutgers, Tennessee along with several Group of 5 schools.
