WVU Football Expresses Interest in Dominant Utah Tech Transfer Pass Rusher

WVU Football offers Syrus Webster at Utah Tech

After taking a brief break from sending offers to transfers, the WVU football program is now back at it to close the weekend.

Syrus Webster, a defensive end transfer out of Utah Tech, announced he received an offer from the Mountaineers late Saturday night. Webster’s WVU offers comes as one of many the veteran revealed throughout the day on Saturday.

These are offers are coming just a day after he posted a message with his intentions to transfer. Webster made it clear that he is looking to take his game to the next level and experience FBS football. To this point, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, San Diego State and Washington State have also offered Webster.

And based on Webster’s numbers, it makes sense for him to feel he has nothing left to prove at an FCS school. Webster recorded 161 total tackles in three years at Utah Tech and that includes a giant jump in production in 2023. He posted 79 tackles this past season and 12.5 tackles for a loss.

Webster would perfectly as part of a WVU defense that’s searching for more skilled pass rushers. The recent departure of James Heard Jr. also opens up the potential for more playing time than may have been available if the Mountaineers stayed intact.
