It turns out Neal Brown wasn’t done with the 2020 class after all.

This evening, six-foot-two, 210 pound Mitchell County High School linebacker/athlete James Thomas announced his commitment to the Mountainers.

Thomas is the 22nd member of the Mountaineers’ 2020 class and second linebacker after Taurus Simmons.

Thomas originally planned on announcing on Wednesday during the first day of the late signing period, but it was postponed due to inclement weather.

Aside from West Virginia, the Baconton, Georgia native held offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Michigan, South Carolina, Tennessee, Purdue and South Florida amongst others.

A consensus 3-star athlete on 247Sports, Thomas is ranked as the 86th best player in Georgia and the 46th best athlete in the country by the 247Sports Composite. Rivals, which lists him as an outside linebacker–which he’s expected to play at WVU–is even higher on Thomas, ranking him as the 53rd best player in the state with a 5.7 rating (5.8 is the threshold for 4-stars).

Before choosing the Mountaineers, Thomas had West Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee as his final four.
