WVU Football Showing Interest in Productive UConn Transfer WR

Since WVU is still planning on bringing in more wide receiver talent, let’s look at another transfer target who could be headed to Morgantown soon.

West Virginia is one of several Power Four programs showing interest in UConn transfer Jasaiah Gathings, according to Michael Salvo, the founder and CEO of NIL and transfer portal service Nilson Sports.

With multiple offers and a visit schedule set to be finalized soon, UConn WR Jasaiah Gathings (@GathingsJasaiah) is receiving interest from the following schools:

Purdue
West Virginia
Washington State
Colorado State
Western Kentucky

The Mountaineers are joined by fellow Big 12 school Baylor and Purdue and Wisconsin out of the Big Ten. Gathings has heard from Bowling Green, Buffalo, Colorado State, Kennesaw State, Western Kentucky, Western Michigan and Washington State since declaring his intentions to enter the transfer portal on April 3.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Gathings made 37 receptions for 307 yards and scored three touchdowns with the Huskies in 2024. Before his lone season with UConn, Gathings spent two years with Akron. After limited opportunity in 2022, Gathings exploded in 2023 and caught 55 balls for 575 yards.

He has two remaining years left of eligibility.

Gathings was a first-team all-state and all-conference player at Statesville High School in Statesville, N.C, where he capped off his high school carer with a monstrous senior season. As a senior, Gathings recorded 57 receptions for 1,200 yards with 13 touchdowns.
