WVU Interim HC Josh Eilert Offers Message to Mountaineer Nation

On the morning after being announced as interim head coach of the WVU men’s basketball program, Josh Eilert released a statement to Mountaineer Nation.
Eilert added his own thoughts to the original tweet from West Virginia with the news.
“Mountaineer Nation, thank you for all of the support surrounding this team during a time of change and a very difficult situation for all,” said Eilert.
He then continued. “We have a lot of work to do moving forward, but I promise you that we will continue to put everything we have towards seeing our student-athletes succeed on and off the court. To our guys, Let’s do this fam! Let’s go Mountaineers!”

Eilert steps in for Bob Huggins, who resigned last weekend following a DUI charge.
Eilert will coach next season and then will be evaluated at the end of the year.
Eilert has been with West Virginia’s program for 16 seasons after following Huggins from Kansas State. Eilert was promoted to a main assistant role after Erik Martin took the South Carolina State job in 2022. Eilert spent his first six seasons at WVU as a video coordinator under Huggins.
