West Virginia missed out on one Class of 2021 receiver this week when Pat Bryant, a three-star recruit from Jacksonville, Florida, committed to Illinois over the Mountaineers on Sunday.

On Tuesday, however, WVU was back on the hunt for a receiver with an offer going out to another Florida high school standout.

Senior-to-be Michael Watkins III announced he received an offer from West Virginia early Tuesday afternoon. Watkins, listed at 5-10 and 160 pounds by MaxPreps, was a bit off the radar prior to this week. He does not have a 247Sports star rating, but his first offer came from Nebraska late Monday evening with WVU, Baylor, Florida, Utah and Florida International not far behind with offers coming in Tuesday.

West Virginia has two receiver commitments for the Class of 2021 — Maryland’s Kaden Prather and Andrew Wilson-Lamp from Massillon, Ohio — with Watkins joining a deep list of uncommitted senior receivers holding WVU offers heading into their final high school season.
