WVU RB CJ Donaldson to Miss Duke’s Mayo Bowl, WR Preston Fox Questionable

One major piece of news that came out of WVU head coach Neal Brown speaking to the media is learning a key player will miss the bowl game.

Brown says running back CJ Donaldson will join center Zach Frazier as Mountaineers who will miss the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. He made it clear Donaldson’s absence is a coaching decision, but says it’s just due to the need for him to recover from being banged up towards the end of the season.

Donaldson had an up and down regular season, but still totaled 798 yards and scored 11 touchdowns in 2023.

Brown also mentioned wide receiver Preston Fox is questionable for the bowl game.

West Virginia and North Carolina will kickoff the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Dec. 27 at 5:30 pm ET.
