WVU safety Christion Stokes has announced that he will enter the transfer portal on Thursday. Stokes just completed his redshirt freshman year at West Virginia and has been enrolled since January 2022.

Stokes said the following on social media:

“First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me with the ability and the opportunity to play this game and be able to make it to the next level.

I’d like to thank the staff and Mountaineer nation for the undying support and the opportunity to continue my career at the division one level. I would also like to thank Vince and his staff for pushing me to be a better version of myself. I appreciate all the support everyone has given me.

Thank you to all my teammates who have pushed me and encouraged me to keep working. I consider all of you my brothers. All the memories we’ve shared and time we spent together will be something I’ll always remember.

After talking with my family, I will be entering my name in the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining.”

Stokes appeared in four games over two seasons, three this year (Duquesne, BYU and Cincinnati). Stokes was a three-star prospect out of the 2022 high school class.
