Guzman, a junior, played in 17 games over the last two seasons for the Mountaineers, making one start. He made 24 total tackles with one pass deflection and a fumble recovery in 2019 and nine tackles this past season. Guzman came to WVU in 2019 after spending the 2018 season at Cerritos College.
Even without Guzman, safety is poised to be a strength for West Virginia next season. WVU is set to return 2020 starters Tykee Smith, Sean Mahone and Alonzo Addae as well as adding former Arizona transfer Scottie Young, who was ineligible for much of the 2020 season, and 2019 starter Kerry Martin Jr., who opted out of the 2020 season.
Guzman is the third Mountaineers to enter the portal this week, joining offensive linemen Blaine Scott and Briason Mays.
