WVU to play St. John’s in 2019

This coming December WVU will take on an old Big East opponent in Basketball.

The matchup comes as the inaugural year of the Big East-Big 12 scheduling alliance, which will run through the 2022-2023 season.

St. John’s had a fairly average season in 2018-2019 going 21-13 and making it to the first four of the NCAA tournament where they got bounced by Arizona State.

However, the Red Storm went just 8-10 in conference play and finished 7th in the Big East.

West Virginia is coming from a not so stellar season where they finished dead last in the conference going just 15-21.

Regardless of the scheduling alliance with the Big East is sure to provide future opportunities to play old foes and rekindle some rivalries.

The move is good for both conferences as some reason that the Big East is a better basketball conference than the power-5 PAC-12.

Other notable games in the matchup this December include Kansas at Villanova, Marquette at Kansas State, and Seton Hall at Iowa State.

Regardless West Virginia will be playing a non-conference tournament team that is sure to help mold them before conference play starts.
