WVU’s Bob Huggins Again Among Nominees for Basketball Hall of Fame

For the fourth year in a row, West Virginia men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins has been named a nominee for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Going into Tuesday’s Top 10 battle against Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse, Huggins sits on 888 career wins.

Huggins returns to the ballot along with other multiple-time nominees Chauncey billups, Richard Hamilton, Ben Wallace, Chris Bosh, Chris Webber Jay Right, Swin Cash and Becky Hammon, among others. First-time nominees are Doug Collins, Michael Cooper, Howard Farfinkel, Lou Henson, Paul Pierce, Yolanda Griffith and Lauren Jackson.

As for when the Class of 2021 will be announced, there could be some minor changes to the usual schedule. From the Hall of Fame’s release announcing the nominees:

“Following the Hall of Fame’s traditional timeline, Finalists from the North American and Women’s committee for the Class of 2021 will be announced in the timeframe of NBA All-Star Weekend, which is scheduled for early March. The entire Class of 2021, including those selected by the direct elect committees, will be unveiled in the timeframe of the NCAA Final Four scheduled for early April. Event details are forthcoming, and the announcement timeline is subject to change.”
