WVU recruit EJ Walker

2025 top-150 prospect EJ Walker has included West Virginia in his top 12 list. Walker, who has been recruited by the Mountaineer staff for some time now, released his top schools on Friday morning.

Walker is also considering Cal, Dayton, Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Xavier. Walker currently plays at Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger, Ky.

Walker has been rated a three-star prospect by 247 Sports. The 6-foot-8 junior has received Power-6 interest throughout his recruitment and has taken many visits over the past one-and-a-half years.

West Virginia got involved with Walker in August 2022 under former HC Bob Huggins and then-assistant Josh Eilert. Eilert made a couple of trips to visit Walker, which then Walker returned the favor, unofficially visiting WVU in September 2022. Walker also came back and attended a men’s basketball game vs. Texas in January 2023.

“Coach Eilert has been great checking in on me about school and the season. He actually just got to come to check out one of my high school games live last week. It’s great to have the extra support,” Walker told WV Sports Now in 2022.“I look forward to chopping it up with my family and the rest of the staff on this visit too, my little brother actually gets to come along this time.”

With West Virginia’s head coaching job in limbo, it’s unknown whether or not that will affect Walker’s decision about West Virginia.
