2026 4-Star LB Impressed with WVU Football Program After Visit for Game
Saturday’s win over Albany served two purposes for the WVU football program. Most importantly, it got the current Mountaineers back on track and their much-needed first win of the season. But it also showed recruits what Morgantown is like on the day of a West Virginia home game.
Cam Thomas, a four-star 2026 linebacker recruit out of Lakota West High School, was one of the top prospects in town as a guest of the program. And after returning home to West Chester, Ohio, Thomas detailed his experience to WV Sports Now.
“I had a great time in Morgantown. The WV staff was amazing from start to finish. West Virginia said they want to lock in with me for this recruiting process. They did a great job for a game day visit,” said Thomas. He even added #HailWV to his message as well.
He said he hopes to return for another visit sometime soon. Thomas even posted a public thank you to the WVU program on X (formerly Twitter).
@WVUfootball thank you for a great visit! #TakeMeHome #CountryRoads 🔵🟡⚪️⛰️@WVUFBRecruiting @NealBrown_WVU @CoachLesley_WVU @CoachKoonz @trey_neyer @cameronhall_4 @LakotaWestFB 🔥🦅 pic.twitter.com/4yZjouNh3N

Listed at 6-foot-2, 217 pounds, Thomas is widely considered one of the top Ohio athletes in his class. Thomas holds a a four-star rating from ESPN and Rivals and three stars from 247 Sports and On3 Sports. He’s also ranked as one of the top 20 players in the state by every major recruiting outlet.
A big reason WVU wanted to get Thomas on campus early in his recruitment is due to how much interest he’s already generating across the country. Thomas’ versatility and ability to play both outside linebacker and edge rusher is a driving force in why so many big brands are after him.
Thomas has been offered by schools like Boston College, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan, Pitt, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin among others.
He recorded seven tackles, four for a loss, a sack and an interception on the Friday night prior to his WVU visit.
