Safety Alonzo Addae announced on Twitter Thursday evening that he will be returning to West Virginia next season.

A redshirt-safety, Addae has the opportunity to return next season due to the NCAA’s blanket eligibility waiver for all players this season. He transferred to WVU before the 2019 season from New Hampshire. After sitting out the 2019 season to fulfill transfer requirements, Addae had a breakout season with the Mountaineers this year. As the team’s starting safety Addae finished third on the team with 61 total tackles with two interceptions and five pass deflections.

A native of Ontario, Canada, Addae signed with New Hampshire in 2016. After redshirting as a true freshman, Addae played in 24 games for the Rams over the next two seasons with 61 total tackles and 12 pass breakups. The nephew of WVU defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae, Alonzo transferred to WVU in the summer of 2019.
