West Virginia received a nice present on Christmas when former Spring Valley standout Doug Nester announced his commitment to transfer to WVU.

A Huntington native, Nestor signed with Virginia Tech as a four-star recruit out of Spring Valley. After verbally committing to Ohio State in 2017, Nester flipped to the Hokies on signing day in 2019. He had an impressive offer sheet which included Penn State, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Oregon and WVU.

He started 10 games at right tackle for VT as a true freshman in 2019. He was named a PFF All-Freshman honorable mention following the season. Nester also started at left guard in all six of VT’s games this season.

He entered his name into the transfer portal two weeks ago.
