BREAKING: Kade Strowd Selected in 2019 MLB Draft
In the twelfth round of the 2019 MLB Draft, the Baltimore Orioles made Kade Strowd the fourth member of the WVU baseball team selected this year. The right-hander served as the Sunday starter for the Mountaineers and his efforts in the weekend rotation were enough to get him chosen early on day three of the draft.
Strowd was a solid option in the starting rotation for WVU through the season, finishing with an ERA of 4.73 and over a strikeout per inning. He also made a key relief appearance in the NCAA regional replacing Nick Snyder and finishing the opening round game against the Fordham Rams.
The Orioles’ selection of Kade Strowd makes this the largest WVU draft class since 2014. He also joins former Mountaineer John Means in the Baltimore organization. With Strowd drafted today, sophomore Jackson Wolf is the only starter remaining from WVU’s weekend rotation.
