It’s been a rough day for West Virginia alums in the NFL, with former Mountaineers quarterback Will Grier and wide receiver David Sills V both being cut, and it’s been a particularly rough day for WVU alumni on the Carolina Panthers.

Former Mountaineers safety and XFL alum Kenny Robinson is the latest to be cut from an NFL Tuesday, the Panthers waiving him a few hours before the 4 p.m. deadline.

Robinson was drafted by the Panthers with the 152nd pick (fifth round) in the 2020 NFL Draft and re-signed to the Panthers’ practice squad after being cut last September. He was promoted to the active roster in October but didn’t receive much playing time.

In two preseason appearances for the Panthers, he recorded two tackles, a pass defended and an interception. There’s a good chance Robinson returns to the Panthers’ practice squad or winds up on another team’s.
