In a surprising turn of events for those who have been following the draft process, Bryce Ford-Wheaton’s name was not called during the 2023 NFL Draft.

Despite his impressive testing numbers at the NFL Combine, especially his time in the 40-yard dash, the WVU wide receiver product was not drafted.

Ford-Wheaton, listed at 6-foot-4 and 221 pounds, was vocal about feeling heโ€™s being disrespected by those who donโ€™t think that much of his NFL potential. He reiterated this by saying โ€œI know people are sleeping on meโ€ at the NFL Combine. It was from that point on that those previously unaware or doubting the WVU product began noticing him. He even voiced he feels heโ€™s done everything he can to show NFL teams what he can offer at WVUโ€™s Pro Day.

While receiver is a position that almost always offers plenty of talent in the NFL Draft, Ford-Wheaton earned his chance to show that he belongs in the league. His experience on Special Teams in college should also help to earn him a shot to make a team’s roster. But to get his opportunity playing in the NFL, he will now have to wait to be signed as an undrafted free agent.
