Always a flare for the dramatics, Geno Smith closed the book on his 2022 regular season with an overtime victory.

Smith had to rebound from a tough first half, which included one of his two interceptions on the day, to lead the Seahawks on a comeback and game tying drive to close regulation. He was then able to get kicker Jason Myers in position to connect on another field goal after the Rams failed to score to start overtime. it wasn’t pretty, but the 19-16 win was the ninth of the season for the Seahawks, finishing with a winning record.

The WVU Sports Hall of Famer completed 19 of 31 passes for just 213 yards, but did add 51 yards on the ground thanks to a big 25-yard run. His touchdown pass gave him exactly 30 for the season. Smith also ended up setting the Seattle single season franchise record for passing yards.

Smith and his teammates like fellow Mountaineer Bruce Irvin will now watch to see if the Lions can know off the Packers and keep their improbable season rolling to the playoffs. Irvin came through with 1.5 sacks in this essential win for the Seahawks too.

Regardless if Smith can include a postseason start to his resume of accomplishments during this renaissance type season, he will have an other opportunity to get on the field for the Seahawks when he represents the NFC in the Pro Bowl in February.
