Former West Virginia transfer guard Jeremiah Bembry signed with Oakland, the program announced.

Bembry now joins an Oakland program who’s coming off a round of 32 appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Golden Grizzlies upset 3-seed Kentucky in the opening round of the tournament.

Bembry entered the transfer portal on April 17, just a few weeks after the hiring of WVU HC Darian DeVries.

Bembry appeared in eight games for West Virginia last season under former head coach Josh Eilert. Bembry is seeking a medical redshirt this season, Eilert said during conference play. Bembry had a nagging shoulder injury following the Fort Myers Invitational trip back in November. The 6-foot-6 guard needs a medical reason to prove his case or else this year of eligibility for him will be burned.

Bembry currently has three years of eligibility heading into this season with a potential fourth season if granted this medical redshirt.

Bembry transferred from Florida State to West Virginia this summer after Eilert’s promotion to interim head coach. Bembry did not play for the Seminoles during his true freshman season as he was redshirted. Bembry was a three-star prospect out of Executive Education Academy.

From last season’s team, eight players entered the portal, including Bembry. Josiah Harris (F – Akron), Seth Wilson (G – Akron), Patrick Suemnick (F – Oklahoma State), Kerr Kriisa (G – Kentucky) Noah Farrakhan (G – Hampton), Kobe Johnson (G – Saint Louis) and Ali Ragab (C – Northern Arizona) have all found new homes.
