Yesufu (6-foot) played this past season at Washington State, averaging 6.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in six games. Following a season-ending injury, Yesufu entered the transfer portal and committed to West Virginia. The Bolingbrook, Il. native has played at Drake and Kansas. At Drake, Yesufu helped the Bulldogs to the 2021 NCAA Tournament, averaging 12.8 points. Yesufu transferred to Kansas after Drake and was a part of the 2022 National Championship team.
Yesufu has one year of eligibility remaining as he reunites with his former coach in DeVries.
“So far he’s right on schedule. We’ll continue to hopefully make progress there. I think he feels good about where he’s at. I think when we come back from the Italy trip our plan is to start to work him into some half-court stuff and some drill work. Then take it from there,” DeVries told the media in July.
