Not only did WVU lose the Frisco Bowl to Memphis, but they also lost Jahiem White to a hamstring injury on Tuesday night. But Mountaineer Nation woke up to some positive news from White himself on Wednesday morning.

White is in good spirits and his injury is not considered serious.

“Thank you for all the concern. Iโ€™ve gotten so many DMโ€™s and shout outs on Twitter. Iโ€™m fine, no major injury just a pull. Not how I wanted to end the season. Thank you for all the support! Best fans in the Big 12!,” said White to provide an update and a message of thanks to those who reached out with well wishes.

According to White, he suffered a minor hamstring pull and shouldn’t need to surgery.

The second half of the Frisco Bowl started off with WVU fans learning White would miss the rest of the game. White was ruled out for the rest of the game after suffering a hamstring injury in the first half.

White recorded 28 yards on seven touches before exiting the game with an injury. The half opened with Memphis leading 28-17 and the Tigers would score on their first possession to increase their lead to 35-17. The Tigers eventually won the game 42-37 after a frantic finish and a WVU comeback attempt in the final minute that was halted when Garrett Greene threw an interception.

Chaotic Frisco Bowl Results in Losing Season for West Virginia

After emerging as a freshman sensation in 2023, Whiteโ€™s production dipped some during the 2024 regular season. He ran for 817 yards on 142 carries and scored seven touchdowns. In total, White recorded 845 yards on 149 rushing attempts in his sophomore year. He also caught 19 balls for 122 yards and a touchdown as a receiver.

With two more years of eligibility left, fans now wait to discover if White plans to return to West Virginia and if new head coach Rich Rodriguez sees him as part of his plans moving forward.
